ICPHSO's 6th International Meeting and Training Symposium

The International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) hosts it’s first ever meeting in Canada in October this year. With the support of its co-hosts, the Canadian Standards Association and Health Canada, ICPHSO will bring some of the world’s leading consumer product safety experts to Toronto. ICPHSO’s sixth international meeting and training symposium takes as its theme, “International Cooperation on Product Safety”. Important new provisions for consumer product safety and the safety of electrical products have been introduced in Canada in the past year and across the border in the USA. The ICPHSO meeting will provide an excellent opportunity to be updated on the implementation of these new regimes. We will also be able to reflect on how the regulators are trying to coordinate their efforts to promote consumer safety throughout North America and ensure a level playing field for business. Health Canada and the CPSC have announced a number of joint recalls this year and even a recall also coordinated with the Ontario Electrical Safety Authority. The ICPHSO meeting will provide an excellent opportunity to learn from the experience gained with these recalls and to reflect on the prospects for broader international cooperation.
