ICPHSO's 2013 Annual Meeting & Training Symposium
Dear ICPHSO Attendees:
The February 2013 Symposium marks the 20th anniversary of ICPHSO! We will celebrate this important milestone with special people and activities including a performance by the Capitol Steps, a political satire troupe known for their current, cutting, and non-partisan humor! In addition, over the course of the conference, we will be treated to nostalgic reminders of the early days.
Most importantly, the substance of the 2013 conference promises to cover issues of importance to all attendees. The first day of the conference will focus on Obligations in the Supply Chain: Reporting Requirements and Recalls. In addition, tours of the CPSC Engineering Lab in Rockville, MD will be offered, with transportation provided.
The second day will be packed with informative workshops covering topics such as: port surveillance, tools for understanding and anticipating product failures, “green” chemistry and chemicals of concern, and best practices for effective compliance with an increasing number of international safety standards and regimes.
CPSC is hosting a full day of workshops this year. With evolving requirements posed by CPSIA as well as existing regulations, CPSC Day promises to be very informative. We also expect that it will be a very interactive program, allowing for Q&A and interaction between attendees and staff.
ABA’s half-day program addresses two very important, yet challenging topics. In a session on Product Labeling: Federal, State and Beyond, panelists will discuss the myriad of federal, state (including California’s Prop 65) laws and GHS labeling requirements. A second session will address another important topic: Recalls through Administrative Litigation: When Recalls are Not ‘Voluntary’. Panelists will explain what makes a case more likely to result in administrative litigation, how the administrative litigation process works, and how to avoid the pitfalls of prejudgment.
The countdown to the conference has begun! Looking forward to seeing you in February!
