International Cooperation in the Global Marketplace:
Meeting the Challenges of Consumer Product Safety

The International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organisation (ICPHSO) is an international forum for individuals dedicated to consumer product safety. ICPHSO has held annual meetings and training symposia in North America for many years. In 2004 and 2005 ICPHSO held its first two meetings in Europe. The 2004 meeting was held in London and featured high level participation from the European Union and the USA. The 2005 meeting in Arnhem brought together for the first time ever the regulatory authorities of the European Union, the USA and China to discuss the safety of non-food consumer products.
Following the successes of its first two meetings in Europe in 2004 and 2005, ICPHSO will hold its Third European Symposium and Training event in Brussels in Belgium on the 29 th and 30 th of November. The theme of this year’s symposium is international cooperation in global marketplace; meeting the challenges of consumer product safety. The success of the first two ICPHSO meetings in Europe has clearly demonstrated the interest in promoting ICPHSO as a global forum bringing together regulators from around the world and their stakeholders. At the same time the regulatory authorities have begun to forge closer links between themselves and co-operate on the shared objective of assuring a high level of consumer product safety. The ICPHSO meeting will provide another unique opportunity to build on the progress already made in promoting a coordinated international approach to consumer safety and to hear and exchange views with decision makers from the key regulatory authorities from around the world.

Exclusive reasons to attend:

  • At the Symposium the International Consumer Product Safety Caucus (ICPSC), composed of regulators from around the world, will present their plans and priorities for future collaboration and co-operation amongst regulatory authorities.
  • Representatives of regulatory authorities from Europe, China, Japan, Canada and the USA will present their latest developments.
  • Participants will hear from representatives of stakeholders from both sides of the Atlantic
  • Break-out sessions and panel discussions will allow participants to present their views and discuss with representatives of the regulatory authorities the pressing issues that face us today in the global marketplace
  • The USA and Japan will sign an agreement on guidelines for co-operation on consumer product safety
