July 27, 2017 EVENT
July's "Luncheon" - is actually a coffee - and a tour of the Port of Seattle and operations related to investigation and enforcement of product safety regulations on July 27, 2017 that begins at 9:00 AM and is scheduled to run until about 12:00 Noon. Many thanks to Starbucks for their sponsorship of this event and the transportation.
For the Port of Seattle Tour, since there is no parking available at the Port Offices, the pier and the bonded warehouse where inspections are performed by Customs and Border Protection and CPSC staff, offsite parking and transportation is required from a different location. Starbucks is providing free transportation and coffee a half hour before the event starts. Attendees need to be at Starbucks corporate headquarters (2401 Utah Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98134) by 9:00 AM sharp and ready to board the busses at that time. Carpooling to the Starbucks headquarters will be required since they will have limited parking available for attendees. Starbucks will provide bus transportation to the Port Offices, where attendees will then divide into a group going to the pier and a group going to the bonded warehouse. The groups will then switch and visit the respective facility they haven't seen.
Following the tours of the port and the bonded warehouse, buses will transport attendees back to Starbucks headquarters, where food trucks will have arrived. There is ample seating outside. Lunch is optional and at attendee expense..
Pre-registration with Customs and Border Protection is required for this event. Likewise, parking passes for carpools in Starbucks headquarters lot also requires pre-registration. Parking passes will be offered to registered ICPHSO attendees with a minimum second registered attendee rider since parking space is limited at Starbucks headquarters.
SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 EVENT
ICPHSO ’s next Northwest Lunch Event is scheduled for September 21, 2017,at 11:00 am (pt). The September program will focus on Washington State’s Children’s Safe Products Act and Oregon’s Toxic-Free Kids Act and the respective new reporting requirements due to be rolled out in October 2017 and January 2018. Representatives from Washington State’s Department of Ecology and Oregon’s Health Authority’s Public Health Division’s Environmental Public Health will be in attendance and speaking about those changes. Additionally, an industry group (AFIRM) will join the panel to discuss how they are working with their members to developing strategies to navigate these challenges and a compliance tool aiding industry in responding to new reporting demands.
