ICPHSO Report / January 2017
Ross Koeser Achievement Award
In 2015, upon the retirement of ICPHSO founding member and first Executive Director, the ICPHSO Board created the Ross Koeser Achievement Award. Many of you read about Ross and his interaction with ICPHSO in the Executive Director Blog - ED Blog. This award is given annually and recognizes an ICPHSO member for their significant contribution to the organization. Ross was the first recipient recognized by the ICPHS Board of Directors for his service to the organization.
Our second recipient of the achievement award in 2016, was Joan Lawrence, Senior Vice President, Standards and Regulatory Affairs, Toy Industry Association (TIA). Joan was recognized for her contributions to ICPHSO as a volunteer, long-time chair of the Sponsorship Committee, Board Member service and as a past President.
2017 Award Recipient
The ICPHSO Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2017 recipient of the Ross Koeser Achievement Award is ICPHSO Founding Member and current Board Member, David Schmeltzer. David has worked with ICPHSO since its founding, and is still actively involved in the product safety community as a product safety consultant. David held key leadership positions with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and at the time of his retirement from CPSC he was the Director of Compliance for many years. In addition to his own practice as a product safety consultant, he is a Senior Advisor to Stericyle and is Of Counsel to the law firm, Phillips Nizer, in New York City.
David is recognized for his invaluable contributions to ICPHSO as a founding member, volunteer, Board Member, and his lifelong dedication to keeping consumers safe.
David will receive the award and the recognition he deserves during the 2017 Annual Meeting and Training Symposium in Orlando, Florida. Joan Lawrence, the 2016 recipient will present the award to David. We hope all Symposium attendees will be on hand to recognize David as he receives the ICPHSO Ross Koeser Achievement Award for 2017.
